Excitement and Opportunity: Supporters Update 16

Would you rather watch an episode on video or listen to it as a podcast? Why? When are videos better than books? Why? What are the downsides of communicating in writing?

As our team gathered for the first annual Anabaptist Perspectives Convention, we took time for philosophical reflection before diving into planning and troubleshooting. The church is called to use a broad tool set for media and communication. Anabaptist Perspectives in particular is called to make good use of audio, video, and text through accessible internet platforms. That’s why we have a blog, podcast, YouTube Channel, Facebook page, several Telegram groups, and a few other distribution methods.

Getting our team together in person for two days was wonderful! Video conferencing just doesn’t work for some purposes (even when your focus is digital media). Convention highlighted so much to be excited about and thankful for. It also highlighted the need for work and prayer.

WHAT MAKES US THANKFUL & EXCITED!

SHARED VISION & TEAMWORK

Lots of energy and enthusiasm was on display. Lots of diverse skills which people are eager to employ. Ideas for making things better. People who had not met before working together in person.

NEW GEAR FOR A BETTER END PRODUCT

We are so thankful for supporters who banded together to donate thousands of dollars for gear upgrades! Moving forward we have vastly better mics and lights. We have 4k cameras as well as key accessories for professional production.

Reagan got to put some of that new gear to work as we filmed several episodes for Season Four!

A NEW WEBSITE UNDERWAY!

You have asked for a searchable website. The site we are building will allow for easy searches and filtering by topics and contributors. The website will become a central hub for our content. Of course, you will still find us, better than ever, on the platforms you currently use as well!

WHAT NEEDS WORK & PRAYER!

SEASON 4

  • We are almost at the end of our third season of episodes. That means there will be a break in our weekly releases while we get ready for Season 4. Production has already begun with several episodes filmed, and we will be working hard to film many more in the coming months.
  • Pray for God to guide us to the right guests and topics.

ENCOURAGING AUDIENCE MEMBERS

Pray for audience members who find themselves in tension with their church (whether Anabaptist or other churches) and for wisdom for Jaran and Chester as they interact with these people and attempt to encourage them in wise directions.

STRUCTURE & STAFF

More staff and volunteers bring a lot of potential. It is a lot of work, though, to come together and get on the same page for productive collaboration. We also lack the financial resources to bring on staff members for the needed hours to move forward at the pace we want to. We are working hard to streamline processes and workflows and to broaden our supporter base.

Partnership Opportunities

PRAY – For wisdom, for zeal, for provision.

INTERACT and SHARE CONTENT -Your reviews, ratings, comments, shares, likes etc. help more people find this channel.

GIVE – One current need is adequate storage for video footage. Each episode involves three cameras recording in 4k—a lot of data! We have identified a network storage solution that will serve as an archive as well as allow working access for our video editors. Projected cost is $1500. Select “Gear and Equipment” when donating online or mark your check memo.

You may also give toward our website overhaul. There will be some ongoing hosting costs associated with the website, but more significant is the upfront cost of labor. Your donations toward the website will enable us to continue at a timely pace. Select “New Website” when donating online or mark your check memo.
